e-IDG Symposium

Spring 2021

Illuminating the Druggable Genome (IDG), a NIH Common Fund sponsored consortium, is organizing an e(lectronic)-Symposium series during the Spring of 2021. This series aims to offer the scientific community opportunities to learn about exciting new developments from IDG’s research resulting in new experimental resources and digital tools illuminating the understudied targets in three main druggable protein families: GPCR, kinase and ion channels... and beyond. This IDG consortium consists of a network of Data and Resource Generation Centers (DRGCs), each focusing their research on one of the three protein families, the Knowledge Management Center (KMC) organizing data and integrated informatics tools across various resources to illuminate understudied protein targets, and the Resource Dissemination and Outreach Center (RDOC) facilitating annotation and distribution of resources brought forth to shed light on to targets. In the spring of 2019, three additional groups joined IDG focusing on making Cutting Edge Informatics Tools for Illuminating the Druggable Genome (CEIT).

To foster greater knowledge and exposure, IDG will invite external speakers to share their work on the symposium session’s theme. Examples of themes are; Kinase, GPCR, Ion Channel, Informatic databases and tools, Machine Learning, Novel Technologies, Proteomics, Bio-Assays, Mouse resources, Compound screening. Each 1-hour e-IDG Symposium session will feature two speakers giving 20 minute talks and allowing for some “mingling” and Live Q&A. The meeting platform would be Zoom Webinar. Advertisement and announcements of e-IDG Symposium Series will be made via IDG social media outlets, Newsletter, and website. The symposium sessions will be recorded and posted on IDG YouTube Channel and DruggableGenome.net.
