IDG associated R03 grants
Beginning in 2018, NIH announced requests for applications to R03 awards associated with IDG work of illuminating understudied proteins. As stated in the RFA’s these awards aim to support the generation of additional data around understudied protein(s) identified by the IDG. To date, NIH has announced four rounds of these IDG associated R03 RFA’s and below is a table listing the R03 awardees, titles of their grants, the grant’s focused IDG protein family and/or specific protein, and outcomes or publications from the grants.
Round 1: A total of 16 R03 grants was awarded from Pilot Projects Investigating Understudied G Protein-Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels, and Protein Kinases (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) RFA-RM-18-021. Application due date was October 26, 2018. General timeframe of awards, based on earliest start date, are June 2019 – June 2020.
Round 2: A total of 17 R03 grants was awarded from Pilot Projects Investigating Understudied G Protein-Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels, and Protein Kinases (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) RFA-RM-19-011. Application due date was October 28, 2019. General timeframe of awards, based on earliest start date, are June 2020 – June 2021.
Round 3: A total of 24 R03 grants was awarded from Pilot Projects Investigating Understudied G Protein-Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels, and Protein Kinases (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) RFA-RM-20-019. Application due date was July 15, 2020. General timeframe of awards, based on earliest start date, are February 2021 – February 2022.
Round 4: A total of 20 R03 grants was awarded from Pilot Projects Investigating Understudied G Protein-Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels, and Protein Kinases (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) RFA-RM-21-012. Application due date was July 15, 2021. General timeframe of awards, based on earliest start date, April 2022 – April 2023.
Round 5: A total of 21 R03 grants was awarded from Pilot Projects Investigating Understudied G Protein-Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels, and Protein Kinases (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) RFA-RM-22-024. Application due date was July 15, 2022. General timeframe of awards, based on earliest start date, July 2023 – July 2024.
